Tokyo Disney Resort from the UK: getting there and hotels
Tokyo Disney Resort is home to two parks, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, plus six Disney Hotels. Its address is Maihama, in the city of Urayasu in Chiba Prefecture (Tokyo Disney Resort). This guide covers getting there from Tokyo Station and the airports, how the official site groups its hotels, the entry rules for UK visitors and what to check before you book. We're an independent site, not connected with Disney or Oriental Land Co.
Where it is and the nearest station
The official addresses of five of the six Disney Hotels are in Maihama, Urayasu-shi, Chiba-ken. The sixth, the Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel, has two buildings in the Akemi and Hinode districts of Urayasu (Tokyo Disney Resort), in what the official site calls the Shin-Urayasu area (Tokyo Disney Resort).
The nearest station is Maihama on the JR Keiyo Line / Musashino Line (Tokyo Disney Resort), and JR East's timetable shows trains from Maihama heading into Tokyo (JR East).
From Tokyo Station
The official FAQ's advice is simple: take the JR Keiyo Line or JR Musashino Line from Tokyo Station to Maihama (Tokyo Disney Resort). From Maihama:
- Tokyo Disneyland Hotel is an 8-minute walk (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- The Disney Resort Line monorail starts at Resort Gateway Station, next to JR Maihama. Tokyo Disneyland Station is the first stop (Tokyo Disney Resort), Bayside Station is the stop for the Toy Story Hotel (Tokyo Disney Resort), and Tokyo DisneySea Station is the stop for MiraCosta, which you reach along a walkway (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- For the Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel, take the free shuttle bus from the Tokyo Disneyland Bus & Taxi Terminal (about 20 minutes). The other option is a "Tokyo Bay City Bus" (number 3, 11 or 23) from the South Exit of JR Shin-Urayasu Station to the "Bayside Hotel Area" stop, which takes 10–15 minutes and has a fare (Tokyo Disney Resort).
The official FAQ says the Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, MiraCosta, Toy Story Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel and Celebration Hotel don't include free monorail passes. The Ambassador and the Celebration Hotel run free shuttle buses to the parks instead (Tokyo Disney Resort).
From Narita and Haneda airports
The official FAQ calls the airport limousine bus "a convenient way" to get from both Narita and Haneda to the Disney Hotels (Narita, Haneda). Tokyo Airport Transport, which runs the buses, lists a Narita Airport to Tokyo Disney Resort area route (Airport Limousine Bus). Some things to know:
- No Disney Hotel runs a free airport shuttle (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- During your stay, bus seats can be reserved at the hotel's Bell Desk or Guest Service Counter. To book ahead, contact the Airport Limousine Bus Reservation and Information Center (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- The Celebration Hotel has no direct bus to or from Narita, so you'd use public transport (Tokyo Disney Resort). Its Haneda bus leaves from the street stop outside the hotel, and seats are limited (Tokyo Disney Resort).
How the official site groups its hotels
Tokyo Disney Resort sorts hotels into four groups (Tokyo Disney Resort):
- Disney Hotels (six).
- Tokyo Disney Resort Official Hotels (six), within the resort area.
- Partner Hotels (four), in the nearby Shin-Urayasu area.
- Good Neighbor Hotels (nine), further afield in Tokyo and Chiba.
All four Tokyo stays in our collection are Disney Hotels. Here are the six, with the opening months from Oriental Land Co.'s chronology (Oriental Land Co.):
- Disney Ambassador Hotel: July 2000.
- Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta: September 2001. It sits inside Tokyo DisneySea and has its own Hotel/Park Gateway entrance (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Tokyo Disneyland Hotel: July 2008.
- Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel: June 2016. It has two buildings, Wish and Discover (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel: April 2022. Only hotel guests may enter the hotel and its grounds, including the restaurants and shops (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel: June 2024.
Is the Disney Ambassador Hotel closing?
We found no sign of that. When we checked (30 October 2026), the official FAQ still listed it among the Disney Hotels (Tokyo Disney Resort), and its notices page mentioned guest-room refurbishment planned for 1 June to 14 September 2027 (Tokyo Disney Resort).
Hotel perks and park tickets
- Happy Entry: all Disney Hotel guests can enter Tokyo Disneyland or Tokyo DisneySea before other guests. It applies every day of your stay except check-in day, and which park depends on your hotel. You still need a 1-Day Passport, and Happy Entry isn't offered on some dates, which are set about four months ahead (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Fantasy Springs Entrance: Toy Story Hotel guests can use this entrance into Tokyo DisneySea from 10am, with a park ticket and proof of stay (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Park tickets are separate. On 30 October 2026, the official FAQ said park tickets "are not being sold" at the two parks. You buy them on the official website or app, which needs a free MyDisney account. Disney Hotel guests can also buy tickets at their hotel for use during their stay, and the official "Vacation Packages" include tickets (Tokyo Disney Resort).
Entry rules for UK visitors
On 30 October 2026, GOV.UK said that travellers on a full British citizen passport can get a visa on arrival for tourism or business for up to 90 days, with no need to apply beforehand. Your passport must be valid for the length of your stay, and you need a blank page for the visa stamp. GOV.UK also warns that bringing meat products such as sausages, bacon and ham into Japan without permission is illegal (GOV.UK). Our travel documents checklist covers passports and insurance in more detail.
What to check before you book
- Your hotel's group. Happy Entry is a Disney Hotel benefit (Tokyo Disney Resort), so check which of the four groups your hotel is in.
- Park tickets. Unless you book an official Vacation Package, which includes park tickets (Tokyo Disney Resort), plan to buy tickets for your dates separately.
- Airport transfers. If you're flying into Narita and staying at the Celebration Hotel, plan on public transport (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Closures and works. The Toy Story Hotel is closed on 18 January 2027 for equipment work (Tokyo Disney Resort). The Celebration Hotel's Discover building has guest-room refurbishment planned from 1 July 2026 to February 2027 (Tokyo Disney Resort), and the Ambassador's refurbishment runs from June to September 2027 (Tokyo Disney Resort).
- Happy Entry dates. Some dates are excluded, and they may not be confirmed when you book (Tokyo Disney Resort).
